Not talking about the base story or characters, but mostly gameplay: if you remade SMRPG with just updated, full 3D visuals and camera, it would feel way emptier than anybody can really imagine- especially in the face of the M&L series, which many would knee-jerk claim is inferior despite still saying they’re good games. What do you think about the series, have you played the game and would you buy a remake if it did come out? I can't see any kind of remake come out unless both Nintendo and Square Enix thinks it can be very profitable for both companies, lets face it they both have a lot more higher priority projects that they would rather be working on. I'm also very curious if a remake or rerelease would sell, the Mario & Luigi remakes did very poor sales and tanked Alpha Dream but not a lot of people actually have played SMRPG and it does have a cult following not unlike the Mother/Earthbound series which has shown to equate to sales when Nintendo resells the games. Both series game aged much better and feels more tied to the Mario brand as a whole. I have always saw SMRPG as a prototype to what would be Paper Mario and the Mario & Luigi series, they took the best parts of Mario RPG and took them in a new direction. It certainly has a very passionate and active underground niche community that loves the game and it fulfills a want to see an expanded Mario world that isn't just nameless toads, bowser baddies and the same generic worlds but is it something people want to see? I am very curious to know how popular Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is to the wider Nintendo community. Six subreddits from this multireddit are randomly shuffled every hour.
